The 5746-style starter is similar in appearance to the 5742-style starter, but they are not necessarily interchangeable.

The 5742 uses a shorter field case measuring approximately 97 mm (3.75 in.). Before ordering, compare the starter body length, mounting bracket, terminal position and drive gear with your original starter.
